Roleplay

Despite its appearance, Jae is a Synth. It was sent here and using this form to survey worlds and study organics.

Technical

Model

The current avatar is a modified Rexouium avatar version v264. The modifications include:

  • Removal of the fluff in the ears as a toggle isn’t present in this version.
  • Hands are on their own material slot sharing the UV map with the regular body.
    • This is used to have a wireframe material on the hands while holding tools within Resonite.
  • Some bones have been added to ease adding accessories on-platform.
  • Custom tail that aims to be a bit less fluffy and more organized.
    • It is not the Magpie one, but a custom one.
  • Feathers removed.
  • Custom hair.
  • Eyes are replaced by custom ones.
    • Eye modelling by ShepShep, texturing is own.

Textures

Information

While this information is provided, I would ask you to please not use the design as-is. You can take inspiration as much as you want, but this includes making it your own by not taking it as-is. Thank you.

Textures are made using Adobe Substance Painter 2024 and took four years total to reach its final form through about 3 major iterations. The design philosophy goes as follows:

  • Colours:
    • Main body colour of #715697.
    • Arm and legs gradient to #554070.
    • Base black of #1F1F1F.
    • Nose tip of #3D3D3D.
    • Mouth interior of #BA5C5C.
    • Nipples tip of #AB68C3.
    • Nipples base of #784989.
    • Shadowing of #151718.
    • Shadowing of #000000.
  • Substance fur shader used.
    • This makes editing the texture only possible on my main workstation due to the VRAM requirements.
  • Diamonds pattern.
    • The goal is to have an inorganic pattern to show the creature might not be what it seems and more artificial.
  • Paw pads and snout are textured with a leather-like normal map.
  • Other patterns:
    • Maned wolf-like gradient on tip of legs, snout, arms and tail. When exporting textures for on-platform use, the following settings are used:
  • Unity HD Render Pipeline (Metallic Standard).
  • Resolution of 2048x2048.
  • PNG format.

The avatar ships with several accessories:

  • Glasses (custom design).
  • Collar (design by ShepShep).
